Psych! said the psychic.

So let me start by saying that I don't really believe in psychics. I think they are just really good at asking leading questions and getting enough info to give generic answers to those who are willing to read into them for details. Did that make sense?

Anyway, there is this one, Karen the Southern Psychic, that I've heard on the radio show that is on while I drive home. She's pretty good and I wanted to give her a try. And as miracles would have it, I got through the phone lines.

It started off badly, I had to tell her my freakin' name. Seriously!!! She didn't already know it was me that would be the next caller.

Then I had to tell her why I was calling. I tried to be super vague so she couldn't figure out 'what I wanted to hear', and strangely she wasn't getting a very clear reading. I told her I was wondering about my Dad. Any real psychic would know he's been dead for 13 years, but nope, not Karen. So I caved and told her he pulled his own plug and asked where he's at now. She said there is a lot of confusion and anger surrounding his death. You don't say, confusion and anger with a suicide? Then she guessed at few other things and wasn't getting anywhere so she changed the subject. To money.

Now she really had me convinced, she was able to tell that finances are a concern for me and my husband. GET OUT! How did she know, in an economy like this one where everyone is so prosperous. Wow.

Anyway, I blew some smoke up her... well, what I mean is, I lied and told her I thought she was great.

What is your opinion on psychics?

I think that some people (those who aren't in it for the money) have some intuitive gifts. Those who do it for the money are full of hot air.

I'm skeptical my nature, so I generally don't believe.

But I agree with Christa about the ones who seek money.

I know a lot of police departments actually employ psychics to help find people, and many have actually helped, so who knows?

I believe there are people that more intuitive than others. But I agree that the ones that do it for money are just feeding a who ever will listen a load nonsense.

"Does his name begin with an A?... B?... C?... D?....[you nod] D! Yes, it's definitely a D. I can hear the dead speak to me, but for some reason they can only tell me the first initial of their name..."

one halloween me + my bestie were at tepanyaki eating dinner. there were 2 girls at the table that just kept staring at us ... really, not even being discreet here. just STARING + smiling all creepy.

we left and they followed us out to the parking lot ... so we started walking faster + so did they. hmmm... creepy. that's when one asked me what time it was and i said something like "8:46!" and TRIED to get in my car. that's when she got all close to me and said "i'm a psychic and i LOVE your aura. i want to read your future for five dollars. come to my shop." i looked at her all wide eyed and got in my car.

needless to say, later me + my friend got bored and went to see her. she started chanting some freaky satan chant and told me that she NEEDED to be my personal assistant {since i need one to type my blogs and cut my toe nails} and that she would only charge me $300 a week + that i needed to stay away from my family and friends. and i said "no, i can't afford that. i don't need you. i'm in college." and what did she say? "i know you're rich and you CAN afford me. you NEED me." and then we left.

the end.

ha ha your first paragraphy total sums it up, well you have to experience it for yourself, but most psychic's are vague and give general questions so now you know.

Load.

Nonsense.

'nuff said. Except also that I agree with you, I'm glad you didn't give away info at first, that's showing the psychic!

I think there are some true ones out there, but not all. And I don't think a true one can turn it off and on.... they see what they see when they see, not at will when someone calls and says, look at me.... Anyway.... I would never go to one. I have had my cards read, and the lady that did it for me was so accurate she scared the bejeveies out of me. Nothing like having someone you have only met a few times, dig into your soul like that. And is something I will never do again. I am not saying it was a bad thing.... just bad for me, no one should, or ever will, know me that well.

i think some do have intuitive gifts, but for the most part i think it's total bs. plus, to get all their power, don't they have to be like besties with satan? sounds fishy to me. ;)

i'm so sorry to hear about your dad. that had to be so hard + definitely confusing.

I used to not believe this kind of stuff but then I saw David Blaine's street magic and now I believe, everything.

I agree that there are some people out there that are more "in-tune" with the spirit world, however, most the people you see making a living off it are gimmicks.

When I was in middle school, my best friend and I really wanted to know if they guy we both had a crush on like either of us. Staying up late one night, we saw the 1-900 numbers for the psychic friends. Your first 5 minutes were free, so we formed this genious plot to call, have a stop watch at hand, and as soon as we hit 4 mins and 50 seconds, we'd just hang up. Duh, they are the psychic ones, they should know that's what we are going to do. Easy right? Yeah, we thought so. We probably called 20 times that night. Let's just say, when the phone bill came, we still didn't know who the guy liked, and my friend was grounded for months. $3.99 per minute really adds up.

I don't believe in psychics but those Ouiji Boards still give me the heebie jeebies especially when a friend SWEARS it is moving all by itself!

I am kind of fascinated by psychics and think most of them aren't really very good at it, but I kind of wish that they were, you know?

I have to post because there seems to be too many people that dont believe! I BELIEVE! Because I live it! People have a misconception of what it is to have psychic experiences. We are not mind readers and know everything! We are not God we are just regular people who are given information - and most of the time we dont know why! I may not believe either if I hadnt experienced it, so I understand your points. Just keep your minds open and one day you may find yourself experiencing something you can not deny!

I believe in us and I know that any of us who are reputable will NOT ask any leading questions.

This post seems somewhat angry, maybe it effected the reader. It would effect me.

God bless.

well I definatly am skeptical but I would like to believe in it. Maybe someday something will happen to convince me.

Just SO said...

Like others have said before...I do believe that there are those out there that are for real. I wonder about where their "gifts" come from though.

I had an uncle who went to psychic once in the middle of the reading she stopped and told him to leave that she wouldn't finish because the rest was too horrible (at least that is the family lore). And he had some really, and I mean really bad things happen to him and his family.

I'll parrot the group. There's probably a reason there's an industry, and that's because there are people who are just tuned in to that stuff. And then there are the fakes.

I'm no psychic, but on three distinct occasions, I have had totally realtime pseudo-telepathic dreams. The most recent one is super embarrassing, but so freakishly accurate it kills me not to tell the story.

These "telepathic" dreams never happen when it's helpful or adventageous.

Heck is for people that don't believe in gosh
