Do you know how to use a wicket?

This is Melissa, she is likes the taste of snow. She thinks it tastes like pollution.

We went to Sundance yesterday and the ticket girl was asking everyone if they knew how to use a wicket. Who knew that was what they are called?

Five things I learned yesterday:
1. The word wicket.
2. Melissa likes smog.
3. When the signs says, 'chains or 4 wheel drive', they mean it.
4. I'm old. It's been 33 years since I was born, but I'm pretty sure if I did one of those actual age tests, I'd come out about 65. I seriously should have gotten a senior discount ticket.
5. I'm really, really out of shape. Turns out, it's important to be able to reach your feet when trying to undo your bindings.

One thing I already knew, but was reminded of yesterday:
1. Melissa is one of the funnest friends I have. Thanks for the good time Grandma Nita.

I've lived in Utah my whole, entire life and have never been skiing. Not even once. Perhaps that means I'm not a true Utahn.

33 has kind of hit me like a ton of bricks in the fitness department. I'm so out of shape, there's not really a stage to describe how out of shape I am. If took one of those real age tests, I think I would be around 97.

you're a rockstar. i've never been skiing or snowboarding + don't know that i'm too eager to try. i know i would probably just roll down the mountain.

i don't know what my actual age would be, but i just joined a knitting/crocheting club if that's any indication.

happy hump day.

Same thing as Christa. Never been skiing or snowboarding and I have no desire to be wet, cold, and break my head.

wii fit tells me that my body age is 37 ... i'm only 23. go figure. it's a good thing i can still pass for being in high school. that will come in handy when i'm 37 and look 20.

Thank you for the ed-u-ma-cation. I am going to feel so cool next time I'm on the mountain and ask my friends why they don't get rid of their old wickets. So cool. I can't wait until Jeff tells me that I 'made that up', and then see his face when he actually googles it. yesssss!

Ah dude. I thought while reading this post that I was original. But now I can only say, ditto Christa and Kristina.

I don't think there has ever been a time in my life when I could touch my toes.

Man- if it taked fitness to ski it is just another reason why I don't go.

The first is that you have to do it in the SNOW.

Having never been skiing before, I had no idea that those little metal thingies were called wickets. I thought wickets were part of a British sport or something.

And Sundance, eh? Didja see anyone famous?

Just SO said...

I've never been skiing so I had no idea what a wicket was. I've learned something new today. Thank you.

OK-no idea bout the wicket thang, but feel you are in need of some winter advice. Here's what I got:

You CAN eat the yellow snow.
As long as you don't eat ALL of it.

You're welcome.

Look at all that I am learning this morning by visiting your blog. (1) At 33, I must be old too. (2) The word wicket. You are like the blog equivalent to Wikipedia.

Very fun pictures. I must also admit that I am right there with you on the whole skiing/snowboarding thing. Whenever we are near snow, I have a habit of admiring it from inside, near a warm fire, with a warm drink in my hands. :)
